Academics Curriculum of School

Pre-Primary

A child’s potential can be channelized though a component called “Learning by Doing”. Various means are used, such as cutting, pasting, coloring, free hand drawing and a number of other activities. The free hand drawing is not just lines and symbols, but the child’s expression of his thoughts which he/she may not be able to put into complicated words like the adults. These are simple stories told by the children. Children are not given any direction with the use of crayons. On their own they conceive and every child’s drawing is appreciated.

We have dialogues between characters. For instance, if the theme is ‘Home’ then children depict their Grandmother or Grandfather or Mother or Father. Puppets are used to help in this expressive technique. Dramatization, in which the child expresses his/ her thoughts, exchanges ideas and information in the class with the teacher and the peer groups, opens a creative doorway in their mind. Children enjoy rhymes and stories where they sing and dance along with the music played in class. They recite rhymes happily and listen to stories and in turn begin creating and narrating their own stories too. This component builds up listening skills, enhances rhythmic movement, improves language and expression, strengthens physical development and also liberalizes imaginative skills.

The Morning Assembly is an integral part of the day in which stories, songs, rhymes, puppet-shows are included, where children and teachers are active participants. Every child is given the opportunity to take part in one or the other events in the ‘Assembly’ over a period of time to enhance and build up the child’s confidence and reach out.

Children love visiting the playroom where they are free to choose and play a variety of games, whether it is in the doll house or playing with kitchen sets, beads, blocks, puzzles or simply sit and browse through picture of story books. Skits are also organized in the playroom. Different situations, such as enacting a social gathering like a birthday celebration or playing ‘Tea Party, Office’ are encouraged. A recollection – cum- memory retention activity is performed with the children when they come back. They draw whatever they had seen and done. It’s going to be fun learning experience for you too.

Senior Secondary

The Senior Wing of our school offers all four streams at the Senior Secondary level. Science, Mathematics, Arts and Commerce. In the Senior Wing, a systematic method of student evaluation based on projects and assignments within the framework of CBSE guidelines is followed. The infrastructure consists of a well equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Labs along with a well stocked library and EDUCOM Smart Classes. Students are given a lot of exposure through regular seminars and workshops along with career counseling sessions.

Students are encouraged to participate in a range of extracurricular activities and sports, along with developing all round academic excellence in preparation for entry to professional colleges and universities, both in India and Abroad.

We follow a pattern of cumulative and comprehensive evaluation process where there is no year ending “examinations”. The students are reviewed and their progress monitored on a regular basis. Every week a ‘clubbed period’ is incorporated in the timetable where the student is allowed to experience different modes of understandings, either through guided “learning sheets” or through some group or individual activities. After a few learning sheets, they are given a ‘review sheet’ which is an extension of the learning sheet but without the guidance. The teacher monitors and maintains a meticulous record of the student’s performance. All such performances and achievements of the student is then translated into grades.
